TRS Rule of 80 Calculator

The Rule of 80 is met when your age plus years of service credit equal at least 80. It is not the Rule of 90.

Key point

For Tiers 1 and 2, the Rule of 80 can qualify a vested member for an unreduced standard annuity. Tiers 3 and 4 generally also require age 60; Tiers 5 and 6 generally also require age 62.

Use this in your retirement estimate

Start with the figures on your latest TRS annual statement. The independent calculator can help you explore scenarios, but your official TRS retirement estimate is the final authority.

Important verification

Your tier is printed on your annual statement and any official retirement estimate. If the tier, credit, salary, or eligibility shown there differs from this site, use the TRS information and speak with a benefits counselor.
